Book Review: Angus Lost

by Marjorie Flack

Angus is a little Scottish terrier with a big thirst for adventure. He began to get bored with his routine while being curious about what was outside of his home’s yard.  One day he took an opportunity to slip out of the gate in search of new and exciting things.

Angus’ experiences of the world outside his yard are very realistic for what might happen to a small dog who gets lost, and it gently teaches young children that dogs are much better off in the safety of their homes. That said, this is a delightful storybook that inspires readers (or listeners) to see the world through the eyes of their pet dog.

The story introduces various wonderful ideas and concepts as Angus explores his surroundings. This creates wonderful opportunities for discussions and language development with your child. First published in 1932, this is a true classic that deserves a spot in your family library.
